Choosing your gown

You will probably choose your gown like everything else in your wedding. You will know it when you see it... This accounts for everything, people and things. If you have the freedom of being able to arrange everything the way you want it - without other people having or wanting a say - your senses will tell you when things are right and when things are wrong. It seemed to me that when I was planning and I distanced myself from what was conventional and expected, I made the kind of decisions I was really happy with in the end.

But we are looking at gowns here. So here is one way of looking at finding a gown: keep your location in mind. This considered, the choices might already be narrowed down, depending on if the wedding takes place in a church, a garden, on the beach, in someones back yard, at a winery, inside a big ballroom, etc.

{Traditional Church Wedding}: allows for an elaborate gown - long trains, beading, tulle and lots of bustles.

{Southern California Beach Wedding}: Flowy shapes and soft fabrics make for a dreamy feel and great pictures when the wind picks up.

{Luscious Park or Garden Wedding}: Beautiful flowers, orange trees, tall eucalyptus and oak trees and a perfectly green lawn. So many strong colors support the beauty of a dress and set the mood for a romantic wedding.

{Princess Ballroom Wedding}: Beautiful flower bouquets and arrangements, flowy drapes along the sealing and walls, a grand building and a big hardwood dance floor. The ballroom sets the stage for a dramatic wedding gown.

{Fess Parker Winery Wedding}: Rows and rows of grape vines, an old winery dotted in the middle, beautiful park-like grounds, far away from civilization and and all your loved ones in one place celebrating the 2 of you.

{Friend's or Family's house and garden Wedding}: Everything is familiar but different, the rental company, caterer and florist have turned this place into a venue that is fit for a wedding as grand or personal as the couple chooses it to be.

{Close friends and family only Wedding}: Location could be anywhere (a restaurant, beach pavilion, the local park) but the couple is out for some fun. Good tunes are rocking the house all night and everybody is having the time of their lives.
